Airforce ROTC at K-State has a path to earning a commission as an Air Force Officer.  Complete Military Training and Bachelor’s Degree simultaneously.  They offer leadership, friendships, guaranteed job after graduation, scholarship opportunities, adventure/travel and physical fitness.  Host school is K-State Manhattan, and K-State Polytechnic.  High School Scholarship programs or HSSP; High School seniors may apply on-line at www.afrotc.com.  26 ACT 3.0 HS GPA.  See Mrs. Smutz in counseling office for more information. 

Cloud County Community College – Junior and Senior Day February 23rd at 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. campus preview day.  Informative day intertwined with the admissions process, tour of the campus, and meet academic advisors.  Call 800-729-5101 ext. 214 or email mgreen@cloud.ed or steph.lichtenauer@cloud.edu to reserve a spot.  Parents are welcome to attend.  Cloud offers a Cadaver lab, and a nursing department all open for tours.  They have a heated Ag facility that includes arena, stalls, equine labs, precision ag equipment and livestock.  They have a mathematics department and an Earl Bane Observatory.  They offer classes in Renewable Energy inviting schools to schedule a visit to tour the Renewable Energy Park and view drone flight demonstrations.  Contact for tour options Amanda Wolf awolf@cloud.edu.

HutchCC Scholarship Application is now open in Dragon Zone. The priority deadline for the application is Feb. 15 but they have strongly encouraged students they should get it filled out sooner than later so it's one less worry for them this school year.  HutchCC just got done filming a new virtual campus tour that our Media Communications program put together. It's in the editing process now so I will get a link to you as soon as it's all ready to go. While they will still do a campus tour for a student prior to Christmas, if needed, they want to make sure everyone understands that they may not be able to show their our Residence Halls and cannot guarantee an academic visit with a faculty member from a program that the student may be interested in. https://www.k-state.edu/sfa/aid/scholarships/future-students/ K-State is a test-optional school for admission starting in fall 2021, most general university scholarships and awards still require test scores for eligibility. The university is currently in the process of developing a scholarship program for incoming domestic freshmen who are admitted without test scores. In the meantime, it is highly encouraged to submit your test scores if possible to secure the fastest notification of an award. You can send in updated test scores through April 30 of your senior year to maximize your scholarship amount.

K-State SALINA — Students interested in becoming professional pilots now have the opportunity to land a new $2,500 scholarship offered by Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus.

The Norman F. Steiner Aviation Scholarship has been established by Keith and Britt Steiner, Erie, Colorado, through the
Kansas State University Foundation. The annual award is available to undergraduate students enrolled in the professional pilot program at Kansas State Polytechnic who demonstrate financial need and meet minimum academic qualifications. The scholarship is renewable to each recipient for up to four years.

Applying for Admission and Scholarships
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to limit the opportunities for students to take the ACT and SAT exams. Applicants applying directly from high school for fall 2021 will be automatically considered for merit-based aid based on information collected from the application for admission. Efforts will be undertaken to ensure equity in award values for those admitted with or without a test score. The priority deadline for submitting an application is December 1. Students admitted by December 1 have until April 1 to provide updated test score and/or 7th semester grade information for scholarship reconsideration. In addition, students can apply for additional financial aid by filing the FAFSA. Apply for on-campus housing selection (first come, first serve), Orientation registration, and KU swag.

As a reminder, we encourage all students to apply. Starting with 2021 applicants, KU has new assured admission requirements, including a test optional path, which means students are automatically admissible to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of Journalism, School of Music, or the School of Social Welfare. If a student does not meet one of these requirements, please encourage them to apply for a holistic review of their application.

  • 24 ACT (1160 SAT) and 3.0 cumulative GPA OR
  • 21 ACT (1060 SAT) and 3.25 cumulative GPA OR
  • 3.4 cumulative GPA, regardless of test score

The University Honors Program is no longer requiring test scores for consideration in to the Honors Program.  honors.ku.edu.

The School of Engineering has added a test optional path for admission. If a student is applying to the School of Engineering without a test score, an official transcript is required so the student’s classes can be reviewed. More information can be found here:

University of Kansas is honored to announce an opportunity for your students interested in majoring in theatre performance. The Jon T. Eicholtz and Barbara Eden Acting Scholarship is available for the Fall of 2021 to first-year students entering the University of Kansas, who would otherwise not consider majoring in theatre without the financial assistance of this renewable scholarship. The Eicholtz and Eden Scholarship provides one undergraduate scholarship (in-state tuition only, fees, books, typical residence hall room and board) to a first-year student entering the University of Kansas. The scholarship will be awarded through an audition and application process.

McPherson College:  admissions@mcpherson.edu.  Schedule a campus visit by calling 800-365-7402.  They over a Presidential Scholarship which is available, they offer up to $23,000 per year for four years ($92,000). U.S. News & World Report voted them Best College in the Midwest.  More information available in the school counseling office counselors@mcpherson.edu. McPherson College offers a truly unique program to help students graduate college debt free.  They can provide an in-person or Zoom interactive presentation of their college.  admission@mcpherson.edu

University of Nebraska – applications are now open for students to apply to the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Emerging Media Arts.  This has been newly established at the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts at the University of Nebraska.  You will experience Design, Immersive + Interactive Media, Cinematic Arts, Story, Virtual Production, Sensory Media, Data + Art, and Sonic Arts.  This degree fuses the principles of great storytelling with emerging media technologies. 

University of Notre Dame –  Notre Dame serves 16 countries and the globe in a program called Old College and it is for male undergraduates students that are interested in serving, young men that apply themselves academically and are interested in a variety of extracurricular activities.  High school youth that are interested in their Catholic faith.  Come and see weekends.   vocation@holycrossusa.org

Washburn University – Leadership scholarships available at Washburn University.  leadership@washburn.edu.  785-670-2000.  Washburn is still awarding Freshman Academic Scholarships.  Scholarships will be awarded based off self-reported information provided on their admission application.  Also Application fee waivers will be given throughout February for graduating seniors applying for the Summer or Fall 2021 semesters.  The fee waiver promo code is SPRING21.  For those taking an ACT the code is 1474.  Washburn University – Apply to receive approximately $1,000 per year renewable for up to four years (3.0 GPA and 24 ACT required for incoming students) www.washburn.edu/leadership

Wichita State: has a large number of scholarships www.Wichita.edu/scholarships listed on their website for students interested in attending Wichita State.  They have many competitive scholarships for Engineering, Business, Teaching, and Fine Arts. 

HSF Wichita State scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a university degree.  Scholarships are available on a competitive basis.  Awards are based on merit.  Minimum 3.0 GPA.  US Citizen or Permanent legal resident, DACA or eligible non-citizen as defined by FAFSA. 

Wichita State - any senior that’s interested in majoring in Math or Science Teacher Education, please be aware that the Doris and Ralph Klose Scholarship Competition at Wichita State offers specific scholarship opportunities worth up to $20,000! Spring Semester Visits – Wichita State is prepared to conduct visits both in-person and virtually! I’ll be reaching out starting next week to nail down visit dates, I’ve already got a schedule mocked up and tried to be mindful of your school’s Spring Break. If there have been any changes to your visit policy/schedule since the Fall semester please let me know, otherwise I’ll assume your procedures remain the same.

Emailing transcripts – Wichita State WILL accept emailed transcripts as official! So when your seniors graduate in May, you can email transcripts to us rather than sending them in a sealed envelope and paying for postage. You’re still welcome to mail, fax, or hand-deliver if you prefer, and we also accept services like Naviance, National Clearinghouse, etc. Please email all student documents to admissions.processing@wichita.edu.

Scholarships – While our competitive scholarships like the Distinguished Scholarship Invitational had Fall deadlines, there are still plenty of scholarships available! Go to www.wichita.edu/outsidescholarships, where we’ve assembled various, non-WSU scholarships; we did the searching for you and the students. Here’s one example of the scholarships posted on that link, and here’s a second one just because I like my counselors.

Campus Visits – We are (still) hosting campus visits this semester for students/families comfortable attending in-person, and we also have virtual tours as an alternative. We also will continue to host group visits, so if you want to get a group of students together we’d love to host you on-campus or online!
